Dancing Djinn

Dancing Djinn

It is dangerous to venture into the desert at sunset. Deep within the djinn reside and the unwary traveller may fall under their spell, as they can assume forms that are very fair to look upon.

Siyu Suen of Illusions is a new (and very welcome!) addition to the We Love Role-Play designer lineup. Her first release for the event is a set of Drow ears in the series that already includes Sprite and Sylph ears. I meant to wear the Drow ones, but after trying my way through the different sets, I ended up doing the photos with the Sprite ears instead. Yes, I can be a little ditzy at times. The Drow ear is a much longer ear, tapering to an elegant point, and it is available at WLRP at 20% off and in regular and two gauged versions.

The Ariadne outfit by Aurora seemed like it would suit a djinn very well, with its silk drapery, precious metals and jewels as well as a distinct “Harem” aesthetic.

Dragon Cave

Dragon Cave

The February round of We Love Role-Play is open and waiting for you, and of course there is a handy shopping guide available to plan your trip.

I decided to start off with some cave exploration which could have ended badly as the cave was already occupied. Fortunately, the fierce beast was mesmerized by the magic crystal I carried with me. Or perhaps it was the very minimal Lirio dress by Aitne that the coppery dragon was so taken with? It certainly does not leave much to the imagination and shows off the Soleil tattoo by Aerth very nicely.

New-ish, but not from WLRP, is the Fluffy hair from Wasabi, featuring two pigtails taming a very curly hair.

Winter Dreams

Winter Dreams

Oh how I wish for some snow now, but alas none around here. At least Fanatik has me covered in Second Life with their new release of snow shapes with highly realistic PBR textures that glitter in the light just like real snow would. They pair beautifully with their Nordic Pines, also with PBR textures, to create a snowy landscape for two Christmas-themed items from Dictatorshop. The Gingerbread Conservatory is a fanciful decor building, perhaps not exactly the home of a witch but very charming for the season. This is not a brand-new release but part of a previous Christmas collection. New, however, is the Holiday Wishing Well which is out at Cosmopolitan. This well is available with either PG or Adult Vanilla animations and is beautifully decorated with holiday ornaments.

And last, but not least, we have a new round of We Love Role-Play that you do not want to miss, especially since every designer is offering a 50L item as a holiday special in addition to the usual new release at a discount. I am wearing a stunning gown by Ruxy that makes me think of Victorian Christmases, except for the very plunging neckline! My eyeshadow is from Rubedo, very sparkling and festive, and the lipstick from Poema.

Rorbuer by Fanatik

Rorbuer by Fanatik

The latest release from Fanatik is a beautiful recreation of the Rorbuer, traditional fishermen’s cabins from Norway. These red-painted cabins sit on stilts and look out over the breathtaking beauty of the Norwegian fjords. I did not have any fjords available, but the Patagonia sim surround from Landscapes Unlimited gives a suitably dramatic backdrop vista. I also used one of the islands from Fanatik’s Land Shapes set, but since those do not (yet) have PBR textures, I switched the snow texture for a new one from Studio Skye to better match the beautiful PBR textures on the Rorbuer buildings and docks. The final result makes me crave snow, which alas is not something we got a lot of on the west coast of Sweden in November. Rain, on the other hand…

Anyway, the Rorbuer release consists of two sets, one with the buildings and the stilts and another with docks, stairs and lanterns. The work on the PBR wood textures is fantastic, it looks so real close up, and the interiors are just as good as the outsides, very rustic and cosy. The buildings have separate snow add-ons and the docks and stairs have a regular and a snow option. But be aware that they ship without the scripts in to make them leaner by default, so to change them you need to add in the included script to your linksets. But there are clear instructions included!
