Tracing the Threads of History and Fantasy

White Wedding

White Wedding

Grasshopper Street has a beautiful set of bridal veils and a tiara, plus a lovely mirror as a gift, at the current round of the Engine Room. The layered veil can be worn in different ways as it is available both as a whole linkset and as individual veils and the HUD allows for a choice of patterns for each layer as well as tinting options.

I didn’t have a dress that I felt suited the style of the veils, so I decided on a bride in lingerie (a beautiful set by alaskametro) for a very lacy and ethereal look that I felt would contrast in a really interesting way with the surroundings provided by the almost-empty Nautilus building by Fanatik, with just a few decor elements from DICTATORSHOP’s Heritage series. It also raises the question of what has happened here, especially when I added the puddles and water leaks on the floor, which is a new PBR set from Fanatik.  Unfortunately, there seems to be a bug in Firestorm so that the lovely reflections I can see inworld are not preserved in the saved image. But trust me, it looks fantastic.

The beautiful upholstered and tufted sofa from DICTATORSHOP has a very traditional look without becoming too heavy or oldfashioned. It offers 7 different metal options, 23 leathers and 9 fabrics, for easy matching with your existing furnishings. Its available as PG or Adult Vanilla, with over 400 animations.

Luxurious Heritage

Luxurious Heritage

Step back to the 19th century with this beautiful evening gown from Grasshopper Street. A corseted waist, impressive ruched sleeves and a drapery across the bust are the defining features of the gown. For Second Life, it includes both legacy and PBR textures and you can see how fantastic the latter can look in the lighting I setup for this shot. The texture HUD offers a range of preset textures and colours but each part can also be tinted, so here I made the coppery colour a few shades darker than the default.

The gorgeous chair is from DICTATORSHOP’s Heritage series which includes several other matching furniture pieces. It comes in PG G with 40 animations, Adult Vanilla with 180 animations and Adult Kink with 225 animations. Plenty of variation, but I must admit I would have loved some solo sits that worked better for a long gown. In terms of customisation, it offers 7 metals, 23 leathers and 9 fabrics.

Lounging in Style

Lounging in Style

For Midnight Order, Grasshopper Street takes you back to the early 20th century with a daring lounging set in silk tulle and satin and a matching turban that is sold separately. The texture huds include both pre-set textures and further tinting abilities. The Zelda pumps are an earlier release, but matched well in style and colour to the lounging set.

For lounging, I am using the Ladies Chaise from the Swan Lake series by DICTATORSHOP, a very opulent line of furnishings with a nice selection of animations. This version of the chaise has single animations, PG couple animations and Adult couple (MF) animations. The matching dressing screen can be glimpsed in the mirror, which is the Ornate Mirror from Dutchie.

The beautiful pale skin is Nar Mattaru’s Hela, worn on Kaya.

Timeless Reflections

Timeless Reflections

I am mixing my time periods wildly here with several new releases from the November round of We Love Role-Play, but I love the end result. In the pre-furnished Shadow Mansion from Death Row Designs, I setup the Tudor Wall Table Set from Simply Shelby. It has a really fantastic reflection cube and great dusty textures for the mirrors, making for lovely reflections with a really old-timey look to them.

The dress is by Senzafine, very gothic in its style and beautifully textured. The Zelda pumps by Grasshopper Street are a little late in style, but suited the look nicely even so. And the final touch from WLRP is the very cool Mechanism Hand by lassitude & ennui, a delicate Steampunk-styled replacement hand that comes in four different textures and can be used on both hands at the same time or just on one. Very ladylike and elegant.
