Dragon Cave

Dragon Cave

The February round of We Love Role-Play is open and waiting for you, and of course there is a handy shopping guide available to plan your trip.

I decided to start off with some cave exploration which could have ended badly as the cave was already occupied. Fortunately, the fierce beast was mesmerized by the magic crystal I carried with me. Or perhaps it was the very minimal Lirio dress by Aitne that the coppery dragon was so taken with? It certainly does not leave much to the imagination and shows off the Soleil tattoo by Aerth very nicely.

New-ish, but not from WLRP, is the Fluffy hair from Wasabi, featuring two pigtails taming a very curly hair.

Creatures of Fire

Creatures of Fire

Once again, a dragon avatar turns out to be the perfect way of showcasing a new release from Fanatik. Last time, it was a cave. This time? A volcano. And being creatures of fire, of course dragons love volcanos.

The Fanatik volcano includes 11 material/texture versions, changeable via a HUD. It can be dormant like the version shown but also have lava running down its sides. And for your winters and arctic settings, it can be snow-covered. The maximum size is approximately 64 x 60 x 19 m and at that size the land impact is 51 prims.

I’ve used the ramps from the Land Shapes package from Fanatik to elevate the volcano somewhat; one could of course go even further with this. I’d love to see some additional pieces for creating a landscape around the volcano which has the same textures, especially the lava.

My dragon avatar is, of course, from Prehistorica, the fantastic Valorian Dragon released for the Fantasy Faire. You can the dragon avatar from the Prehistorica mainstore or at the Marketplace

Fantasy Faire 2023: The Magic of Dragons

Fantasy Faire 2023: The Magic of Dragons

The Magic of Dragons is the name of this year’s quest at the Fantasy Faire, for many one of the highlights of the whole event. Featuring a new story every time, the quest takes you across the Fairelands to help the Bard Queen protect the lands from the Unweaver’s threats. This time, the quest is all about dragons, so it seemed appropriate to at least start off the quest in the shape of a dragon! Specifically, the Wyrmling Valorian Dragon avatar from Prehistorica, a brand new release for the Fantasy Faire and a fantastic treat for anyone who is a fan of the dragons of Westeros.

So, in the 100th Otherworldly vlog, I give you a look at the start of the quest as well as at the dragon avatar.  I hope you will enjoy it! More details about the dragon can be found below the video and the images.

The Crystal Grotto

The Crystal Grotto

It sits in a harsh, snow-covered landscape, looking from a distance like a large block of ice. The ice is very glossy, looking almost like blue-green crystal in places. When you come closer, you can see that there is a wide opening at the front (and a smaller one, almost hidden, along one of the sides) and that the block of ice is in fact a massive grotto. But, don’t get too close, because the grotto has an inhabitant…

The new Grotto building set from Fanatik consists of 32 different building pieces and 4 additional props. They can be used to construct tunnels and grottos of all sizes and because the meshes have an outside (unlike the Cave system pieces) these can be used in places where they need to be viewed from both the outside and the inside. The set includes several examples in different sizes to give a sense of what you can create; for this photo I am using the largest sample build which is 164 prims. I also added other rocks from Fanatik (Boulders from the Land Shapes package) around it to merge it better with the landscape (created with the Islands from the Land Shapes package).

There are four rock textures included (one of them being this ice version) and seven different ground textures.  You texture via a root prim that communicates with the HUD so make sure to read the instructions for how to build these sets.
