Tracing the Threads of History and Fantasy

The Raven Woman

The Raven Woman

A small settlement near the edge of the woods, and a pale-haired woman in black and red, rumored to understand the speech of birds. Certainly, there is a crow that is often seen with her.

I am in love with the Sunniva gown from Rakshasa. It has such beautiful detailing and so many texture options. You can also choose between long or short sleeves. Here, I went with short to better show off the leather gloves from HopScotch. These are actually for men only, but I think they look pretty good on a woman too, especially if I imagine them as sturdier gloves for handling a raven or perhaps a weapon?

The gown and the gloves are from We Love Role-Play and the same goes for the fence and the buildings, a whole kit from XIV which includes several different buildings. Sturdy and rustic, they make up the perfect foundation for creating a village.

The Horse and Her Woman

The Horse and Her Woman

A quiet homestead by the water, carved out of stone and stubbornness and inhabited by a lone horse and a lone woman.

This is another look from the latest round of We Love Role-Play, this time with a more rugged, northern feel.

The Viking-inspired Brynhildr outfit from Rakshasa brings a grounded, practical aesthetic, with layered textures and details that feel lived-in. Patterned trousers and a belted tunic, fur details on both the tunic and the boots, take clear inspiration from more recent looks at what some Vikings may have worn. Paired with the mature Gina skin from Poema, the overall look shifts away from idealised youth and into something more weathered, someone shaped by the same landscape she inhabits.

The simple hut from Del-ka Aedilis sits naturally against the cliffs, while Fanatik’s updated PBR-enhanced Land Shapes package (which you can get an upgrade for if you own it from before!) adds depth and realism to the terrain. Here I have used primarily the islands, but also some boulders. I have also added the new Rocky Shore landscaping, seen at the edge of the water.

Lady of the Autumn Keep

Lady of the Autumn Keep

She stands by the window as the day wanes, the forests below her turning to flame beneath the fading sun. Beyond the mountains, the chill of winter gathers, but for now, her hall is warm with light and memory.

The the new Gable Hood from Grasshopper Street, debuting at the November round of We Love Role-Play, is an n exquisite piece that brings historical depth to fantasy styling, with embroidered detailing and metallic trims that frame the face gracefully. It’s also a rare find: a headpiece that complements both historical gowns and creative fantasy attire with equal ease.

The Madelyn Gown by Rakshasa features elegant brocade textures, a shaped bodice, and flowing skirts that capture a sense of quiet nobility. The combination of deep green and gold feels regal, particularly under warm indoor lighting like this, and it looks beautiful together with the hood.

For the setting, I used Moon Coven’s Medieval Small Palace, also available at We Love Role-Play for this round. Its tall windows and richly textured interiors make it an ideal backdrop for portraits, evoking the mood of a secluded noble residence.

Defender of the Hall

Defender of the Hall

A week ago, I broke my ring finger on my right hand. I did not think I would be writing anything again for a month, since a full cast was the first prognosis. However, it turned out to need more complicated surgery which in the end meant I needed to be able to start training my finger right away. So, no cast, just a very sore and stiff finger. Writing is a bit of a pain, so I’ll probably keep things short and sweet for a while, but its much better than the alternative!

To get me rolling again, a Viking-inspired setup using the Jarnvidr Longhall from Del-ka Aedilis again, here with some furnishings from Angelicus. And I am wearing one of many excellent Viking/Norse-inspired outfits from Rakshasa. This one is called Vigdis and consists of a top and a skirt.
